Watch Glassblowing Live in the City of Bath seven days a week

Watch our skilled glassblowers at work as they produce our ranges of handmade glassware, many of the designs being inspired by the Roman and Georgian heritage of the ancient city of Bath.

View the historic stained glass exhibits on display, as seen on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow, and our unique collection of glass artefacts from around the world including some original Roman pieces.

FREE ENTRY - Come and watch glass blowing at the 'Theatre of Glass' Studio & Factory Shop, located on Walcot Street, Bath.

Monday to Friday between 9:30am - 1:00pm and between 1:30pm - 4:00pm

Saturday at 11.15am and again at 2:15pm (Note, there may be limited activity to watch between these times on Saturday. 11:15am and 2:15pm coincide with the start of the "Breath in a Bauble" sessions, which you can watch)

GLASSBLOWING IN BATH

Our 'BAUBLE MAKING experience takes place at our wonderful Theatre of Glass, our Studio & Factory Shop located on Walcot Street.

Your bauble will be hand signed with 'Bath' with the year. Choose your bauble colour and help it come to life!

The completed Baubles must cool down slowly overnight and can be collected from the following working day from 2pm onwards (excluding Sundays) or, for an additional postage charge, we can post it to your home / work address.

Limited places are available, therefore advance booking is essential - please call 01225 428146

We also require full payment to be taken in advance to secure your booking slot. You can order and pay over the phone or buy a voucher online.

We have three bauble blowing slots each weekday and two slots on Saturdays.

Timings:

Monday - Friday 11:00am, 1:15pm and 3.00pm

Saturday 11:15am and 2.15pm

Prices:

'Breath in a Bauble' (per Bauble) £20.95

Please Note: Baubles cannot be immediately be taken away, if you cannot collect them, postal charges will apply.

Group ' WATCH YOUR CHOSEN COLOURS TURN INTO A BAUBLE

For COVID BUBBLE groups we are able to offer experience

Our glassblowers will demonstrate some of the fascinating techniques associated with glassblowing and then they will take the glass from the furnace, shape and mould it ready for you to blow down the iron. Your glass bauble is then finished with a small glass loop by one of our assistants and put away in the kiln to cool overnight.

In the morning it will be taken from the kiln and hand signed with Bath and the year.

Timings:

Saturday 12:15pm and 3.15pm

Prices (per person):

4-9 persons = £20.95

10-15 persons = £18.95

Group Size:

Saturday Minimum and Maximum 4 - 15 people

All times and group sizes are subject to availability.

Our cakes and fizz include a selection of cupcakes and a couple of gluten-free slices. We DO NOT guarantee any refreshments that are provided for any activity or event are free of allergens of any kind and do not cater for specific dietary requirements. Non-alcoholic drinks can be supplied.

Group Bauble Making - Help from Start to Finish

For the more adventurous groups, we offer Bauble Making. This involves each member of the group going onto the Hot Floor and helping the glassblower throughout the process of making a bauble. The Hot Floor is the area near to the furnaces and kilns, so it gets very warm.

You will be shown how to shape, heat and blow the glass before adding a loop to finish.

Once your bauble has cooled overnight, it will be hand-signed with Bath and the year.

The completed Baubles can be collected from the following working day from 2pm onwards (excluding Sundays) or, for an additional postage charge, we can post it to your home / work address.

Note: Due to the nature of this activity it is not suitable for pregnant women or children under 16 years of age - the Breath in a Bauble activity may be offered as an alternative for any members of your group unable to take part on the Hot Floor.

Clothing: Natural fibre clothing (cotton / linen) is recommended. All loose clothing and hair must be tied back and no open-toed footwear should be worn.

Per person with Cake & Fizz = £72.50 (notice required at time of booking so we can order catering)
