Making Our Glass Baubles
All of our glass baubles are handmade and are crafted using traditional free-blown techniques, without the use of moulds. To find out more, visit our Glass Bauble page.
The Tradition of the Bauble
Glass baubles have been used for various purposes throughout history. During the medieval age in Europe, glass baubles were hung in the windows of houses and cottages to ward off evil spirits, and bring good luck to the owners. These were known as 'Witching' or 'Lucky' Baubles.
Glass baubles were not associated with Christmas until the 16th Century. The German town of Lauscha, famous for it's glass works is credited with inventing glass baubles that could be given as gifts, or used for decoration at Christmas. Over time, the custom of giving glass baubles at Christmas became more popular, as evidenced today.
